Noel Gallagher claims ‘village idiot’ brother Liam is ‘not well’

Noel Gallagher has hit out his brother Liam, slamming him as a “village idiot” and claiming that he is “not well” after his alleged controversial comments about the ‘We Are Manchester’ benefit concert.

The latest in the war of words between the former Oasis bandmates echo Noel’s comments from earlier this year when he claimed that Liam “needs to see a psychiatrist“. This came after Liam appeared to slam his ‘We Are Manchester’ performance in memory of the 22 people who lost their lives a terror attack at Ariana Grande concert as a “PR stunt“.

Liam later went on to claim that his Twitter account was hacked when the comments were posted.

Now in a new interview with the Irish Independent, Noel says that the feuding has always originated with Liam.

“I never fought with Liam at all,” he said. “Liam was fighting with himself. Right now, he is picking a fight with himself somewhere. I don’t suffer fools in any fucking sense at all, but I suffered him more than maybe I should have done. I felt maybe, looking back on it, that the stadium rock thing wasn’t me any more. At the time, it wasn’t a musical decision. It was literally a case of I can’t bear the fighting and the shouting and the firing people for no reason.”

Noel went on to say that he was baffled as to why Liam felt the need to fight as they had the “same upbringing”, adding “who knows what’s inside the mind of a village idiot!”

Asked about Liam’s alleged ‘We Are Manchester’ “PR stunt” comments, Noel replied: “I will say this — and this is all I will say about it. I don’t think that he [Liam] is well. I think it says more about him than it does about anything else. I honestly don’t think he is well.”

Speaking about the incident earlier this year, Noel said: “He needs to see a psychiatrist. I don’t say that as a joke. Because young Mancunians, young music fans, were slaughtered, and he, twice, takes it somewhere to be about him. He needs to see somebody.”

This comes after the brothers recently came to blows when Noel accused Liam of “legitimising” an online campaign of bullying against his family. Liam then responded by Tweeting ‘pot kettle black’.

Noel Gallagher releases his new album ‘Who Built The Moon?’ on Friday November 24.
