Noel Gallagher shoots down hopes of an Oasis reunion in 2019

Noel Gallagher has flatly denied he has any intention of getting the band together and burying the hatchet with brother Liam in time for a 2019 reunion.

Noel and his younger brother Liam, 46, dissolved their band in 2009 following a series of furious rows.

But anyone hoping the pair might put the past behind will be disappointed to hear that a decade isn’t enough for the lads to let bygones be bygones.

“I’m due in the studio in January with [producer] David [Holmes] to make another record,” Noel told the Daily Star – discussing his upcoming music projects with his band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Bands.

His 2017 album missed out on winning the 2018 Mercury Music Prize last week – and discussing his chance of winning the coveted gong with his next record, Noel dropped his bombshell.

“There’s more chance of Oasis reforming than me winning [a Mercury prize],” he said.

Noel’s album Who Built The Moon lost out on the award to Wolf Alice and their record Visions of a Life.

While Oasis were previously nominated for the gong in 1995 and 1996 – but lost out to Portishead and Pulp respectively.

Fans may have been hoping upon hope that a 2019 reunion of Oasis could be possible as it has been revealed both Liam and Noel intend to head to Glastonbury next summer.

Earlier this month Liam, 46, confirmed he had signed up to play the famous music event, which returns after a one year break.

And now Noel, 51, has told the Mirror Online he would “love” to be included on next year’s coveted bill too with his band High Flying Birds.

He said: “I would absolutely love to play Glastonbury next year. I love that festival but I’ll probably be fourth on the bill.”
