Watch England fans unite in rousing version of Oasis’ ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ following World Cup defeat

England fans in Russia have united in a rousing rendition of Oasis‘ ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ after watching the team get knocked out of the World Cup earlier today (July 11).

England were beating Croatia 1-0 at half-time after an early Kieran Trippier goal, but the game went to extra time after their opposition equalised. Mario Mandžukić scored the winner, with the match ending 2-1 to Croatia.

Former England footballer Gary Lineker shared video footage of England fans in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium in the aftermath of the defeat. The crowd sang along to ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ as it played over the stadium’s PA. Watch the video below.

Meanwhile, Noel Gallagher was booed at a recent gig for suggesting football wasn’t coming home. While playing in Scarborough, the crowd broke out into chants of “It’s coming home”, to which the former Oasis guitarist responded: “Seriously though, it fucking isn’t.”

Brother Liam hit back a day later on Twitter, writing: “Very sad when you can’t support your country coz your Mrs won’t let ya,” he tweeted following England’s win. “hashtag soft lad hashtag under the thumb ITS COMING HOME as you were LG x.”
Blur‘s Damon Albarn was similarly optimistic about England’s chances, saying earlier today that he had “never felt this feeling” of belief in the possibility of the national team going all the way before.
