Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs has opened up about missing Liam Gallagher’s historic solo gigs at Knebworth and the Etihad Stadium due to a battle with cancer.
The former Oasis guitarist had to step away while fighting tonsil cancer, which was diagnosed in March 2022.
“I missed Knebworth, the Etihad… I was devastated,” he told Radio X on his Bonehead’s Bank Holiday Show. “But I’m back with Liam starting in June.”
Their first show together will be at Rock Werchter 2023 in Belgium, followed by more European festivals.
“It’s not a heavy schedule,” Bonehead said. “Liam’s had two hip operations. We’re two old men now.”
The tour will also stop at Boardmasters in the UK and include dates in Japan, a place Bonehead hasn’t visited since the Oasis days.
He also shared an update on his health:
“It was a tough year. I finished treatment on June 24th. Three months later, I got the all-clear.”
Now, Bonehead is under regular care at The Christie Hospital in Manchester.
“I’m about 98% back to fitness,” he said. “Some things won’t return to normal, but that’s fine. I can live with it.”
Asked about a possible Oasis reunion, Bonehead stayed realistic but hopeful.
“Liam and Noel both have solo careers,” he explained. “You’re asking the wrong person. But I’d love to see it.”
Some days, he feels like Oasis doesn’t need to come back. But when he plays with Liam and hears the crowd erupt, it changes things.
“You see 16 or 17-year-olds in the front row,” he said. “They weren’t even born during Oasis.”
“For those kids, just one reunion gig would be worth it.”
