Liam Gallagher, Emeli Sandé and Mark Owen

The singalong will last 30 minutes ending in time for what could be the last clap for the NHS during lockdown according to Sky News.

30 different music artists will participate. Amongst those to do it includes Liam Gallagher, Emeli Sandé, Mark Owen, Tom Walker, Liam Fray, Mike Pickering, Denise Johnson, Tim Booth, Mancunian choirs and many more. The aim of the event is to connect everyone together and reach out to those having a difficult time during the coronavirus lockdown such as those who struggle with loneliness and mental health issues. The director of the event Dan McDwyer said: “It’s been a huge task recording the choirs and 30 musicians including rhythm, horns and strings, plus coordinating sound engineers and mixing vocals from around 20 different choirs – all recording from their own homes safely within social distancing.

But what a moment it’s going to be when those choirs, all singing in their bedrooms, are amplified by thousands of voices across Greater Manchester.” Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester added: “It’s a moment to celebrate the strength of our communities and what people have done to help each in these difficult times. Together In One Voice will help us all feel connected, despite the need to keep a distance, and will be one of those incredible occasions which make Greater Manchester so special.

” The songs can be streamed via MIF Live – Manchester International Festival’s online channel. It will also be broadcast on BBC Radio Manchester. Non-musicians in Manchester are being encouraged to join in with the songs. The singalong is being captured on the night with street cameras, drones and Mancunians own clips they’ve recorded themselves. So, if you’re in Manchester be sure to take part, as you may become part of the show. The singalong will then be edited together and shown on Sunday.
