A Fun Tribute Before the Big Weekend

Liam Gallagher, the former Oasis frontman, has been honored with a blue plaque.
Interestingly, it’s located outside a Lidl store in Manchester.

This unusual tribute comes just before his Definitely Maybe 30th anniversary shows.
These are scheduled at Co-op Live, Manchester’s new arena.

From Joke to Reality: The Lidl Story

Earlier this year, Co-op Live faced technical issues that delayed its grand opening.
As a result, some events were moved or postponed.
In response, Liam Gallagher jokingly said he’d play “a gig in Lidl” if his shows were affected.

Fortunately, that didn’t happen.
The venue officially opened on 14th May with a concert by Elbow.
Now, Liam’s performances this weekend will proceed as planned.

Nevertheless, Lidl decided to have some fun.
To commemorate the “almost gig,” they installed a mock blue plaque outside their Newton Heath branch.
This store is the closest one to the Co-op Live arena.

A New Stop for Oasis Fans

The plaque reads:
“LIAM GALLAGHER, LEGEND ‘ALMOST PLAYED HERE’ JUNE 2024”
This quirky nod has quickly gained attention from fans.

In fact, Manchester Taxi Tours announced they may include the Lidl location in future tour stops.
This will give fans a new site to visit during their Gallagher pilgrimage.

Keeping the Spirit of Oasis Alive

It’s clear that Gallagher’s legacy continues to entertain and inspire.
From chart-topping albums to iconic live shows, his career is full of memorable moments.

Now, with this Lidl tribute, he adds a new chapter—one filled with humor and hometown pride.
Undeniably, it’s one more reason why Liam Gallagher remains a beloved figure in British music.
