Liam Gallagher pays respects to the 17-year-old who died at Reading Festival

Former Oasis Liam Gallagher has paid tribute to a 17-year-old boy who died at this weekend’s Reading Festival.

The singer/songwriter took to his Twitter page to post: “Just heard about that young kid who was found dead in his tent at reading so sad RIP kid x”.

The BBC News website reports that the emergency services were called to this boy’s tent not long before 2 in the morning. After they arrived on the scene, he was pronounced dead.

The boy’s family have reportedly been told of his passing, while Thames Valley Police have stated that the cause of death is currently “unexplained”.

This year’s festival also saw a stabbing incident occur over the weekend, but it was not fatal.

Security at festivals has been a big topic of discussion this year. Glastonbury increased its security in the wake of recent terror attacks, and asked festival-goers to pack lightly due to increased bag searches.

It’s also been announced that festivals could start testing the drugs people bring onto sites, to reduce the risk of drug-related deaths.
