Liam Gallagher has shared his thoughts on Oasis’ new drummer Joey Waronker, calling him “special”.

The iconic Britpop band is currently preparing for their highly anticipated reunion shows. They are rehearsing in London ahead of massive stadium dates.

As reported by NME, the reunited Oasis lineup includes Noel Gallagher, Liam Gallagher, guitarists Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs and Gem Archer, and bassist Andy Bell.

The new addition is Joey Waronker on drums. He previously toured with Liam Gallagher and John Squire last year. Waronker is known for his work with Beck, R.E.M., Elliott Smith, Roger Waters, and Atoms For Peace.

A fan recently asked Liam on X about Waronker’s fit for the upcoming world tour. Liam replied: “He’s the best and we’re lucky to have him. I’ve enjoyed all our drummers but this guy is special.”

A leaked rehearsal clip of ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ sparked further discussion. While a fan praised Waronker’s drumming as “amazing,” they criticized Liam’s vocals. Liam responded sharply: “SHUT UP”.

Speculation about the drummer began after reunion news broke last summer. Original drummer Tony McCarroll had said, “They haven’t reached out yet and I’m not holding my breath.” He later encouraged fans to “be proud” and “enjoy it”.

Alan White, who replaced McCarroll, teased a return by posting a drum kit with a Union Jack design. However, he is not part of the current lineup.

The first reunion show will be on July 4 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. The UK and Ireland tour features 19 shows, including seven nights at London’s Wembley Stadium. Richard Ashcroft and Cast will support the band.

Ahead of the tour, Oasis partnered with Amazon to release new merchandise celebrating iconic moments. Fans are also invited to share personal stories about the band’s music. These stories will feature in the upcoming film Live 25.
