Liam Gallagher says he “wanted to break Noel’s jaw” over Oasis songs battle

Liam Gallagher has been speaking about the row with his brother Noel in regards to usage of Oasis songs in his new documentary.

Liam’s new documentary, As It Were, tells the story of his comeback to music after the split from Oasis, the end of his band Beady Eye and his successful transition into a solo artist.

However, Liam’s tale of a music comeback will be without some of the songs he wrote with Oasis, Irish documentary maker Gavin Fitzgerald has revealed. Apparently, Noel isn’t about to relinquish any publishing rights for Oasis songs, especially after repeated jibes aimed at him through social media. Fitzgerald said: “We weren’t able to use Oasis music in the documentary because Noel owns the publishing rights and refused it, even though Liam wrote some of those songs.”

Liam, appearing on the red carpet for the premiere of the film at London’s Alexandra Palace, wasn’t about to hold back about the removal of Oasis songs from the documentary: “Him and his little people saw it and took the Oasis music out of it because that’s all he’s got left, d’ya know what I mean,” he told Sky News. “Let him get on with it.”

Liam added: “It doesn’t make me sad, it makes me fucking mad.

“I’m not a p****, I’m not sad about it, I want to break his fucking jaw and his daft fucking manager, but that’s what happens. I’m not sad about it, I didn’t go home and cry, I just wanted to go and fucking put their windows through.”

When speaking about the film directly, Liam added that the project was “more of a documentary than a film, it’s not fucking Star Wars, although it’s got a few stars at war in.”

According to a press release, the film “tells the honest and emotional story of how one of the most electrifying rock’n’roll frontmen went from the dizzying heights of his champagne supernova years in Oasis to living on the edge, ostracised and lost in the musical wilderness of booze, notoriety and bitter legal battles. Starting again alone, stripped bare and with nowhere to hide, Liam risks everything to make the greatest comeback of all time.”
