Liam Gallagher Slams Edinburgh Council Over “Rowdy” Oasis Fans Comments

Liam Gallagher has criticised Edinburgh Council after internal documents labelled Oasis fans as “drunk, middle-aged and fat.”

The controversial remarks surfaced following a Freedom of Information request ahead of the band’s three sold-out shows in Scotland this August.

The council had expressed concern about the Oasis Live ’25 dates clashing with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Notes warned that a “substantial amount of older fans” would attend. One memo even stated that “middle-aged men take up more room,” suggesting that size should factor into crowd planning.

Another note suggested that “medium to high intoxication” levels should be expected from Oasis fans.

The tone of the band and its crowd was labelled as “rowdy,” sparking concerns for the safety of Fringe performers. One internal comment added, “Many performers are considering not attending for that weekend.”

Liam Gallagher responded harshly on social media.
He posted: “To the Edinburgh council… your attitude f***** stinks. I’d leave town that day if I was you.”*

In a second message, he mocked council members: “I’d love to see a picture of all the people on the Edinburgh council. Bet there’s some real stunning individuals.”

David Walker, of the Oasis Collectors Group, called the comments “a nasty, sneering stereotype.” He added: “It’s a jaundiced view.”

Councillor Margaret Graham defended the planning, saying it is usual to “prepare extensively” for big events. She added: “Oasis are no different.”

Despite the backlash, around 210,000 fans are expected in Edinburgh for the concerts.

Oasis announced their reunion in August 2024, ahead of the 30th anniversary of their debut album “Definitely Maybe.”

The shows also mark 15 years since Liam and Noel Gallagher last performed together, before their notorious 2009 split in Paris.

Their reunion brings back hits like “Wonderwall”, “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, “Lyla”, and “Stand By Me.”
