Liam Gallagher had strong words for the Premier League return—and for Liverpool.

As football resumed after a three-month suspension due to COVID-19, the outspoken Manchester City fan didn’t hide his frustration. Watching matches played behind closed doors, Gallagher took to Twitter to express his disgust.
“This is pure w***,” he tweeted.
“Void the season. Absolutely ridiculous—all because the Scousers ain’t won the league for 300 years.”
The first match back, Aston Villa vs Sheffield United, ended in a controversial draw. Goal-line technology failed to award a goal, sparking outrage. But Liam Gallagher was more upset by the overall state of the game.
He criticized the use of fake crowd noise, saying it made matches feel unnatural and empty. The lack of energy in the stadiums left him cold.
Later that night, Manchester City played Arsenal, but Gallagher found little to enjoy. Players looked off-pace. Injuries piled up. The excitement? Missing.
Liam Gallagher’s comments followed similar remarks from his brother, Noel Gallagher, who previously said the season should be declared null and void. Noel argued that football without fans wasn’t real football.
“They’ve won it anyway,” Noel said of Liverpool.
“Just give it to them and start planning next season.”
Liam Gallagher’s tweet, though, struck a sharper tone, teasing Liverpool and hinting at a deep rivalry. Many Manchester City fans shared his view. Some even said they wouldn’t watch games without fans in the stadium.
Both Gallagher brothers highlighted a larger concern: football loses its soul without its supporters.
