“What a dream! Five decades later and they’re back,” said Frank Carter, calling Sex Pistols “the greatest punk band of all time.”
Sex Pistols returned to the 100 Club on March 21, nearly 50 years after their legendary 1976 residency. They played a secret warm-up show before the Teenage Cancer Trust event at the Royal Albert Hall. Check out photos, videos, and the setlist below.
The band reformed last year with Frank Carter (Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Gallows) replacing John Lydon. They performed three London shows before a UK tour and a headline gig at the Royal Albert Hall.
They secretly teased a warm-up show at the 100 Club under the name The SPOTS. This acronym, meaning “Sex Pistols On Tour Secretly,” was originally used in 1977 to avoid police shutdowns.

Tickets sold out quickly. Among the audience were Noel Gallagher, Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream), Paul Weller, Gary Kemp (Spandau Ballet), and Nick Kent. They witnessed an explosive performance featuring the entire “Never Mind The Bollocks” album and rare tracks.
The band kicked off with “Holidays In The Sun,” followed by “Seventeen” and “New York.” Frank Carter asked the crowd, “How many of you were here the first time?” before launching into “Pretty Vacant.”
During “Bodies,” Carter walked over the crowd, with Steve Jones calling it a “brilliant move.” The night included “Silly Thing,” “Liar,” “God Save The Queen,” and “I’m Not Your Stepping Stone.”
Towards the end, “Anarchy In The U.K.” closed the night with overwhelming energy. After the Royal Albert Hall show, the band will tour New Zealand, Australia, and return to the UK for Download Festival and Glasgow Summer Sessions.
Meanwhile, Steve Jones stated that asking John Lydon to join the reunion wasn’t worth it. Lydon responded by calling the project “karaoke” and criticizing Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook for not writing new songs.
Jones expressed excitement about playing at the Royal Albert Hall for the first time. He also praised Frank Carter, saying his energy made the Sex Pistols comeback a huge success.
