Noel Gallagher reveals he’s in a creative “purple patch” as he writes new songs for his upcoming album.
“A purple patch, some amazing tunes, really incredible”
Noel Gallagher, the legendary Oasis guitarist, shared that he’s deep into songwriting for his next album, after finding a creative “purple patch” during the process.
Following the success of 2017βs Who Built The Moon?, Gallagher has been working tirelessly on the next record, and he credits the lockdown period with allowing him to focus on creating new music.
Speaking on Matt Morganβs podcast, Gallagher said: βIβve been in the studio, on a bit of a roll. Iβm on a creative run, in a purple patch with some amazing tunesβreally incredible stuff.β
He continued, βIβm writing songs for a new album, and Iβve been in the studio every day. Without this, I donβt know what Iβd be doing. But being in the studio daily has really brought out some incredible material.β
New Sound with “Electro Shimmer Pop” Influences
Gallagher hints that his new music may build on the psychedelic influences seen in his last record. He explained that he’s been experimenting with a sound he refers to as βelectro shimmer pop.β
He clarified: βItβs not actually electro at all. Theyβre just demos right now, and the finished tracks will be almost unrecognizable, but theyβll still carry the same vibe. Everythingβs moving along smoothly, or rather cruising. Once everything opens up, Iβll be living the dream again.β
Gallagher also joked about his routine: βMy studio is in the city, so Iβll be going to the pub for lunch, heading back to the studio a bit tipsy, and shouting at people.β
No Release Date Yet for the New Album
As for a release date, Gallagher remains undecided. When asked when fans could expect the album, he responded: βWho knows? Iβm still in the writing phase. After five years of non-stop touring, I gave myself time off until 2023, even before the pandemic hit.β
He added: βIβm still on schedule, just taking my time. I was always planning on writing for a couple of years, so thereβs no rush for a release date just yet.β
