Noel Gallagher: “Oasis were better when I was in charge”

Noel Gallagher has given a new interview, claiming that his creative lead at the helm of Oasis was responsible to their best work.

Gallagher is currently promoting his first official book, Any Road Will Get Us There (If We Don’t Know Where We’re Going). The book is a celebrating of his recent acclaimed album ‘Who Built The Moon?’ and subsequent world tour with The High Flying Birds. Enjoying his life as a solo artist, Gallagher claims that him taking the creative lead has always been important – especially in the heyday of Oasis

“It’s not a coincidence that Oasis was better when I was in charge of everything,” Gallagher told Rolling Stone Argentina, “and as people grow, they feel the need to assert their own voice, which does not seem bad to me… They were rockstars with that attitude of ‘you can not tell me what to do, how to sing or dress’.

He continued:”I was happy with the idea of spending time in the back seat, but it’s no coincidence that our best time has been when it was not like that. Now in the High Flying Birds I am in control of everything and things have returned to their place.”

The interview also saw Gallagher claim that he’s ‘better looking and has a better band’ now that he’s not in Oasis.

“Ten years later, I’m still on tour, I feel younger, I’m better looking, I have a better band and I write better songs,” he said. “I’m happier and Manchester City won the Premier League three times – what more could I ask for?”
