Noel Gallagher says he’d reunite Oasis for £100 million

Noel Gallagher has said he’d reform Oasis if they were offered a whopping £100 million.

Back in February 2020, Noel’s estranged brother and former band mate Liam Gallagher alleged on Twitter that Noel had snubbed a gargantuan nine-figure sum to get Oasis back together for a lucrative tour.

Liam wrote at the time: “We’ve been offered 100 million pounds for a tour still not enough for the greedy soul oh well stay young.”

Appearing on this weekend’s episode of The Jonathan Ross Show, Noel rubbished Liam’s claims that he turned down £100m for a comeback tour, telling Jonathan: “Why do you say ‘it’s not necessarily untrue’ – because it is untrue.

“There isn’t £100 million in the music business between all of us… if anybody wants to offer me £100 million now, I’ll say it now, I’ll do it. I’ll do it for £100 million. Ludicrous. What is funny though is that I think Liam actually believes it, which is the funny thing.”

Asked if he misses sharing the stage with Liam, Noel replied: “Not particularly no. It’s a different band. It’s a different thing.

“I find it a bit sad that there’s a whole generation of kids, working class kids, who have got nothing of their own to buy into and they’re projecting all that onto a couple of 50-year-old fellas. Where’s the new Oasis? Where’s that?

“The thing about bands is, they’re hard work. It’s hard work to do, what we did is hard work. It’s graft. You’ve got to graft it out. Now it’s easy to buy a laptop and make it in your bedroom.”

When Jonathan asked if he wishes Oasis hadn’t finished so acrimoniously in 2009, Noel said: “We all do, but the fact of the matter is, it did, and everybody’s moved on.

“It was all wrapped up in youth and camaraderie and all that. Once that has gone you cannot put that genie back in the bottle. It would just be for showbiz and for a mere paltry £100 million!”

The Jonathan Ross Show airs on Saturday 22nd May 2021 at 9.35pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
