Noel Gallagher slams Matty Healy comments on Oasis reunion

Noel Gallagher has responded harshly to Matty Healy comments urging an Oasis reunion, calling him a “slack-jawed fuckwit”.

In a new Spin interview promoting the upcoming High Flying Birds album ‘Council Skies’, Noel reacted to the 1975 frontman’s recent remarks. Healy had previously told Noel and Liam Gallagher to “grow up” and reform Oasis.

According to Healy, no one truly wants to see solo gigs. “There’s not one person at a Liam or Noel show who wouldn’t prefer an Oasis gig,” he said.

Noel appeared unaware of these comments. “Oh, that fucking slack-jawed fuckwit. What did he say?” he asked. Then he added: “He needs to go over how shit his band is and split up.”

The ex-Oasis guitarist dismissed any talk of a reunion. “Oasis did everything it set out to do and more,” he said. “If we hadn’t fulfilled our potential, maybe I’d feel differently.”

He continued, “It was a moment in time. If you missed it, tough shit. I missed the Sex Pistols and I got over it.”

Liam Gallagher also clapped back at Healy on Twitter, writing, “It’s our time to waste. Who made him the boss of time?”

Former Oasis guitarist Bonehead recently urged the Gallagher brothers to reunite, suggesting it would mean a lot to younger fans who never saw them live.

Despite occasional hopeful remarks in the past — with Liam saying the reunion was “gonna happen very soon,” and Noel saying he’d “never say never” — recent comments suggest tensions are rising.

Noel recently branded Liam a “coward” for refusing to properly commit. Liam responded by calling Noel “full of shit” and saying he “hates Oasis fans”.

While a reunion appears unlikely, Oasis will still mark a major milestone. The 30th anniversary of ‘Definitely Maybe’ arrives in 2024.

Noel Gallagher confirmed a new edition of the album featuring unreleased tracks. Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher announced live shows playing the album in full — only in select “biblical” venues.
