Noel Gallagher wants to teach Oasis fans a lesson

Noel Gallagher says he wants to teach Oasis fans a lesson with his pop music and has expressed his hatred of Oasis hit ‘Roll With It.’ Noel joined Dermot O’Leary for Reel Stories on BBC 2, they looked back over his career both in Oasis and solo.

During the programme a clip was shown of when Blur’s ‘Country house’ beat ‘Roll With It’ to number 1 and the whole Britpop rivalry from that era. After viewing the clip Noel said, “The whole shame about the thing is the two songs are shit, that’s it. If it was you know, ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’ and ‘Girls and Boys’ fair enough. But ‘Country House’ is fucking dog shit. ‘Roll With It’ has never been played by anybody since the band split up. So, that tells it’s own story.”

He also addressed doing pop music as opposed to rock and roll and how that has outraged Oasis fans. He said, “Now with High Flying Birds I’m in a great position. Everything is on the table. I can go anywhere with what I do now. For instance I’ve got a single out now that Oasis fans…they hate it, they don’t just not like it they fucking hate it. There is a certain section of people who want you to just be like that forever. Then you have a decision to make as an artist. Do I want to be like that or do I want to teach these fuckers a lesson?”
