Noel Gallagher has expressed his desire to join a supergroup with the surviving members of The Beatles.
The former Oasis member has always cited The Beatles as a key influence. He once said they “mean everything to me.”
In 1995, Gallagher joined forces with Paul McCartney and Paul Weller. Together, they recorded a cover of The Beatles’ classic song “Come Together.”
More recently, Gallagher and McCartney performed a duet at Stella McCartney’s 50th birthday in 2021.
Now, speaking to the Mirror, Gallagher said he would “definitely join a supergroup” with McCartney and Ringo Starr.
He explained: “I don’t know if I would start one. Who would I like to be in a supergroup with? I could be in a band with [Paul] Weller and [Johnny] Marr, easily.”
He added: “Playing the bass… Ringo and Macca would be fucking great.
Imagine being in a band with Ringo and Macca. Who’s singing? Everyone. I’d fucking pay to be in it. Get me [promoter] Harvey Goldsmith.”
Last October, Gallagher said The Beatles remain “a level above” in terms of cultural power.
When asked if he discussed songwriting with any Beatles members, Gallagher said:
“No, I don’t really speak to other songwriters about songwriting. What would you say? I believe everyone is the same. Some people are just more talented than others.”
In other news, Gallagher revealed he now struggles to remember his lyrics onstage.
He said he might use a teleprompter in the future: “I’m sure, eventually, I’ll need one.”
Meanwhile, Gallagher will soon embark on a UK arena tour to promote his latest High Flying Birds album ‘Council Skies’. Remaining tickets are available online.
