Peggy Gallagher admits she was the instigator of Oasis reunion

Liam and Noel Gallagher’s mum Peggy has revealed she was the “instigator” behind the long-awaited Oasis reunion.

Liam and Noel Gallagher’s mum Peggy has revealed she was the “instigator” behind the long-awaited Oasis reunion.

The Manchester icons will hit the road next month for their Live ’25 tour. It kicks off on July 4 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and wraps up on November 23 at Estádio do Morumbi in São Paulo, Brazil. The tour includes five huge shows at both Heaton Park in Manchester and Wembley Stadium in London.

It marks the first time the brothers perform together since Oasis split in 2009.

Speaking to Ireland’s Mail on Sunday, Peggy admitted her role in the reunion. “I was the instigator, yes. But sure, wasn’t it always going to happen at some time or other?” she said.

She added, “It was their choice, of course. Look, you can’t force them to do things they don’t want to do.”

The 82-year-old expressed relief that her sons are working together again. “It’s great, because nobody wants their kids falling out, do they?” she shared. However, she also confessed she feels nervous about the shows. “I’ll be glad when it’s all just over because it makes me get too stressed,” Peggy admitted.

Peggy Plans to See Oasis in Dublin

Despite recently undergoing a knee replacement, Peggy hopes to attend the Oasis concert in Dublin this August.

“I’m hoping to get to the Oasis concert in Dublin in August if I can hobble around,” she joked. “That’s my plan anyway… it will be great.”

Peggy remains a beloved figure in her sons’ lives. She raised Liam, Noel, and their older brother Paul as a single mother after escaping her abusive husband, Tommy.

In 2018, Liam recalled: “I was about seven when my mam left my dad. He was out all the time, fighting, beating my mam up, beating Noel and Paul up. Never touched me, though. Then, one night, while he was out, my mam got her brothers round, got all our gear in a truck, left him a mattress, and we went off to our new house.”

He added: “It was immediately better for all of us.”

Noel Surprised by Mum’s Reaction

Peggy had long hoped for her sons to reconcile. Back in 2011, she told The Mirror, “I want them to sort it out.”

But Noel admitted he was surprised by her reaction to the reunion news. “When we told her we were getting back together, she said, ‘Sure, that will be nice’. That was it,” he revealed last December.

The Gallagher brothers recently reunited publicly to launch an Adidas Originals collection. The advert faced some criticism, but Liam quickly defended it on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Oasis don’t discriminate.”
