Robbie Williams unveils blue plaque to honour Oasis comeback

Robbie Williams has shared a playful tribute to his former rivals Oasis, unveiling a new blue plaque in London ahead of the band’s highly anticipated reunion tonight (July 4).

Robbie Williams has shared a playful tribute to his former rivals Oasis, unveiling a new blue plaque in London ahead of the band’s highly anticipated reunion tonight (July 4).

The sign appeared on Berwick Street in Soho, the location of the legendary cover of Oasis’ 1995 album ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’. The plaque reads:
“Robbie Williams – heard it, saw it, loved it, lived it, wanted it and snorted it… That’s The Story.”

The former Take That star tagged Oasis in the post, adding: “GOOD LUCK TONIGHT LADS.” He also recreated the iconic ‘Morning Glory’ album cover, wearing the red tracksuit he famously sported at Glastonbury 1995, when he partied with the Gallagher brothers at the peak of the Britpop era.

This tribute also ties into Williams’ upcoming new album titled ‘Britpop’, which features him in the same outfit on its cover.

Oasis Reunion Sparks Nostalgia and Friendly Banter

Last week, Williams installed a similar blue plaque at Glastonbury 2025, marking 30 years since his legendary appearance at the festival. That sparked rumours of a surprise set, but he confirmed he won’t be performing.

Williams spoke candidly about the Oasis reunion, saying:
“I don’t think anyone could compete with that – including Taylor Swift, who’s the biggest artist on this planet.”

Asked if he’d attend any of the Oasis Live ’25 shows, Williams responded:
“Not only will you not be seeing me at any Oasis shows, you will not be seeing me at any shows full stop. I’m a wonderful agoraphobe, and a very happy agoraphobe.”

Despite their rocky history, Williams praised Liam Gallagher, calling him “charismatic”, while cheekily adding: “Noel will be there too.”

A Feud, A Fight, But Always a Fan

The feud between Williams and Oasis dates back to when Noel Gallagher called him “the fat dancer from Take That.” At the 2000 BRIT Awards, Williams even challenged Liam to a £100,000 fight.

In 2022, Williams labelled the Gallagher brothers “gigantic bullies”, though he insisted he remained “a huge fan” of Oasis.

Liam later responded:
“I’ve never bullied anyone in my life. I’m a massive piss taker for sure… but if I’ve ever hurt anyone’s feelings, I apologise.”

Williams has also joked about how Liam and Noel will react to their portrayals in his upcoming biopic ‘Better Man’.

Oasis Ready to Make History Again

Meanwhile, Noel Gallagher has assured fans that Oasis are “sounding huge” ahead of tonight’s first comeback show at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

Support for the UK and Ireland leg of the Oasis Live ’25 tour comes from Richard Ashcroft and Cast.

Williams has also previewed his new album ‘Britpop’, releasing the single ‘Rocket’, which features Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi.
