From Manchester City to Music

Sharon Latham, former official photographer of Manchester City FC, transitioned into music photography through her friendship with Noel Gallagher. Speaking to NME, she recalled how their paths crossed:

“I was photographing backstage at City when I met Noel, and we just got on instantly.”

That moment sparked a creative collaboration that led her to document Gallagher’s journey with the High Flying Birds.

The Story Behind the Toilet Photo

One photo in the book instantly caught fans’ attention: Noel Gallagher sitting on a toilet at Manchester City’s stadium. The shot became a fan favorite—not just for its humor, but for its authenticity.

Latham explained the moment to NME:

“Noel said, ‘Shazza, get your camera, come with me,’ and sat on the toilet. It was hilarious. That’s just him.”

The image, both raw and playful, showcases Noel Gallagher’s unfiltered personality—something fans rarely get to see.

Capturing the Real Noel

The photo book, “Any Road Will Get Us There (If We Don’t Know Where We’re Going)”, documents the making of Noel’s album and tour. It’s filled with backstage shots, quiet moments, and bursts of energy on stage.

“I wanted to show people the real Noel,” said Latham. “Not just the rock star, but the man behind the music.”

Her photos offer rare access, portraying Gallagher as thoughtful, creative, and occasionally mischievous.
