Bonehead gives some updates about his tonsile cancer treatment.
Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, founding member of Oasis, has given fans a heartfelt update on his cancer treatment, saying he’s “still smiling” despite growing discomfort.
The 56-year-old guitarist revealed in April he had been diagnosed with tonsil cancer. He is now over halfway through a 30-session radiotherapy course, paired with two chemotherapy treatments.
Taking to Twitter on Monday, June 6, Bonehead shared that he had begun his final round of chemotherapy overnight at Christie Hospital in Manchester.
“That’s my second and final session of chemo,” he wrote. “The first wiped me out but hopefully this one will be better.”
Bonehead reported he had completed 16 out of 30 radiotherapy sessions, with his treatment set to finish on June 24—the day after his birthday.
“It’s getting sore,” he admitted, “but I’m still smiling, feeling positive and being me.”
He also thanked fans for their continued messages of support:
“They mean so much. Keep them coming—I read them all.”
The guitarist expressed regret over missing Liam Gallagher’s headline shows at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium and Knebworth Park, but said they looked and sounded amazing.
“I hope you enjoyed the Etihad and Knebworth shows, those of you who went. How good did it look and sound?”
He closed the post with a hopeful message:
“Here’s to next year. I’ll keep you updated, but I’m looking to the end of treatment soon and a few months recovery. Big love to you all xxxx.”
Bonehead originally announced his diagnosis in April, stating he would step away from performing to undergo a full treatment course.
“The good news is it’s treatable,” he wrote at the time. “I’ll be starting a course of treatment soon.”
Although Bonehead left Oasis in 1999 to focus on his family, he has frequently collaborated with Liam Gallagher in recent years, including live shows.
Fans and the music world have rallied around him, offering endless support as he fights his way through recovery.
