The Manchester City striker, who recently broke the Premier League goal record, now has a new ambition: getting the Gallagher brothers back together.
Speaking to Viaplay, Haaland joked about his role in the possible reunion. “Maybe they need a Norwegian guy, a peacemaker to get them together,” he said.
The comment comes just weeks after Haaland posed in his underwear with Noel Gallagher in City’s dressing room. Liam Gallagher later said he wants the footballer on stage with him.
When asked if he’d join the brothers as a “third” singer, Haaland replied: “That’s a good question. Yeah of course I can be. Doesn’t mean I will be, but of course I can be.”
This isn’t the first time Liam Gallagher has linked an Oasis reunion to Manchester City. When a fan asked if the band would reform if City won the Champions League, Liam responded: “I’m ready to go.”
City went on to face Inter Milan in the final on June 10, fueling more fan excitement about a reunion.
Even longtime Britpop rival Damon Albarn has joined the speculation. The Blur frontman told The Sun: “I can guarantee they’re going to reform. In fact, I’ve put money on it.”
Albarn believes Noel and Liam’s relationship has changed since Noel’s impending divorce from Sara MacDonald. He added, “They’re brothers and it would be wonderful to see them reconcile.”
Albarn also acknowledged the power Oasis still holds, saying their reunion would “dwarf” Blur’s success. “Our two nights at Wembley will be dwarfed by their seven!” he joked.
While a reunion hasn’t been confirmed, the 30th anniversary of ‘Definitely Maybe’ and continuous teasing by fans, artists, and athletes keep the conversation alive.
