Lars Ulrich, drummer of Metallica, revealed his deep admiration for Oasis, calling them “the soundtrack to my life for the last 20 years.”
He made this heartfelt statement during the release of the Deluxe Edition of (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, originally released in 1995.
A Personal Connection to Oasis
Speaking to The Guardian, Ulrich described vivid memories tied to Oasis songs. “From the first time I heard them,” he said, “they became part of my life.”
One standout moment came in 1994. At a small show in New Jersey, Ulrich stepped in to run lights for the band. “They had no crew,” he recalled, “and I was the only one who knew the songs.”
Oasis Inspired a Life Change
Ulrich also credits Noel Gallagher with helping him give up cocaine. In an interview with The Mirror, he shared the turning point.
After reading that Noel Gallagher quit drugs cold turkey, Ulrich decided to stop as well. “It felt honest and pure,” he said. “I woke up and said, ‘Enough.’”
A Glastonbury Bond
The connection between Metallica and Oasis grew stronger when Metallica headlined Glastonbury in June.
Backstage, Ulrich and Noel Gallagher were seen chatting and even posed with Bradley Cooper. The moment captured their mutual respect and rock legacy.
