During a recent interview for France Inter, Noel Gallagher replied to Liam about Oasis reunion rumors.
Liam Gallagher sent fans into a frenzy with one bold response online. When asked by a fan if there’s even a “small percentage” of Oasis getting back together, Liam replied: “It’s happening.”
Now, the other half of the feud has spoken. Noel Gallagher addressed the rumours in a new interview with France Inter.
Speaking openly, Noel admitted he understands the hype around Oasis returning. “No one has really come along to take our place,” he declared.
Referring to Liam’s online comments, Noel continued: “There’s something in the papers back in England today.”
Noel then made it clear what needs to happen next. “He should get his people to call my people. They know who they are, they know where we are. Stop talking on the f***ing internet, and let’s see what you’ve got to say.”
When pressed, Noel confirmed: “You would think, right? He’s got my number, he’s got my manager’s number. Call us. But you know what? He won’t call.”
Asked why Liam wouldn’t pick up the phone, Noel simply replied: “But why indeed. Why indeed.”
The Oasis Break-Up: Paris 2009
The legendary Britpop band Oasis split in 2009 after years of tension between the Gallagher brothers.
Everything came to a head on August 28th, 2009, at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.
Earlier that week, their Chelmsford V Festival show was cancelled due to Liam’s laryngitis. But Noel later called it “a hangover.”
Liam responded with legal action, demanding an apology. Noel eventually apologised, and the lawsuit was dropped.
However, the real breaking point came in Paris.
Midway through Bloc Party’s performance, frontman Kele Okereke and their tour manager told the crowd Oasis wouldn’t be performing.
Two hours later, Noel’s dramatic statement appeared online: “It is with some sadness and great relief…I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”
In a later interview, Noel revealed shocking details of the backstage fight. According to him, Liam returned to the dressing room wielding a guitar “like an axe”.
“It nearly took my face off,” Noel stated, adding, “I put it out of its misery.”
Minutes later, he left the venue, ending the Oasis era.
Will the Oasis Reunion Happen?
Despite the history, fans now have renewed hope.
Liam says: “It’s happening.”
Noel says: “Call us.”
The ball is firmly in Liam’s court. The world is watching. The fans are waiting. The Oasis reunion might just be one phone call away.
