Noel Gallagher has dismissed the idea of an Oasis reunion, claiming the band still sells as many records now as they did when active.
Noel Compares Reunion to Holidaying With an Ex
Speaking on the Pub Talk podcast, Noel Gallagher was asked once again if fans could expect a reunion with Liam Gallagher.
“Er, would you go on holiday with your ex-missus?” he replied.
“Oasis sell as many records now per year as when we were together. We’re as popular now in the eyes of the people as we ever were. And I’m happy with it.”
He emphasized that reforming the band would create unnecessary chaos.
“If we got back together there would be a circus – and there’s no point. Just leave it as it is.”
Despite the long-running feud, Noel wished Liam well:
“He’s still selling out Knebworth. Good luck to you, do you know what I mean?”
Oasis’ Legacy Remains Strong
Oasis’ debut album, Definitely Maybe, became the UK’s fastest-selling debut on release in 1994.
Their second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, is second only to Michael Jackson’s Bad in British sales history.
To date, Oasis have sold over 70 million albums worldwide.
Liam Still Wants a Reunion
Earlier this year, Liam Gallagher repeated his desire for a reunion. In The Times, he said:
“If it happens, it happens. I’m quite happy doing my solo career. We should never have split up.”
He also suggested that Noel had changed dramatically since their last contact:
“It’s like he’s been abducted. He’s a different person.”
Graham Coxon Offers to Reunite the Gallaghers
Blur guitarist Graham Coxon expressed support for an Oasis reunion, saying:
“Just need Oasis to do it. Knock those brothers’ heads together.”
He even volunteered to be the one to reunite them:
“I’d do that. I’d have a chat with them. Any day.”
While Oasis and Blur famously clashed in the 90s, Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn have since made peace and become friends.
