Noel Gallagher to Paul McCartney about Oasis reunion: “If you write our comeback single, it’s on”

Just few weeks ago McCartney’s exhorted Oasis to “Get together and make some good music”.

Noel’s reply arrived on time during an interview with Yahoo Music, before his sold-out show at Los Angeles’s Orpheum Theatre.
When the journalist pointed out the former Beatles’ declaration, Noel said “Yeah, well, tell him if he writes our comeback single, it’s on. Tell him to write an Oasis track and then we’ll talk. I’ll just put that out there”.

Apparently, this could seem an opening despite Noel’s position, but going on in the interview appears clear that it was just a joke or a provocation. In fact, he confirmed his idea that a reunion would be nonsense, particuarly now that NGHFB’s tour is going so well and he has already a backlog of about 15 songs.
Noel underlined that it is flattering and also needed, considering that “there are no other bands out there for anyone to focus their attention on every week”.
He understands fans’ situation but he won’t do it. He clinched “I’d do it if I needed the money. If I was broke, I would do it. And I’d be quite frank about that. But I’ve got no need to do it. I couldn’t think of a good enough reason”.
