Noel Gallagher wants to release a covers album

Noel Gallagher has shared his desire to create a new covers album with his band High Flying Birds.

Noel Gallagher has expressed interest in creating a covers album with his band High Flying Birds.

In a recent interview with Radio X, the musician shared his desire to reinterpret some of his favorite songs. As he explained, “I’d love to do a covers record, just for the sheer joy of it.”

To support his idea, Noel named a few classic tracks he’d like to cover. Among them were “This Guy’s in Love with You” by Burt Bacharach and “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’” by The Righteous Brothers. These choices highlight his love for timeless melodies and rich vocals.

What’s more, he emphasized that the project wouldn’t be released under the High Flying Birds name. Instead, he’d prefer to use a different name—perhaps something like “Smokin’ Stereos,” he suggested with a laugh.

Additionally, Noel Gallagher mentioned that he enjoys working with vocal-heavy material. For this reason, he wants to strip the arrangements down and offer fresh interpretations. His goal is not chart success, but creative fulfillment.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Noel has spoken about a covers project. In earlier interviews, he has shown great admiration for orchestral pop and 1960s classics. This idea, therefore, seems like a natural progression for his musical journey.

At the moment, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are busy with their live performances. However, fans will surely keep a close eye on this exciting development. The possibility of a covers album adds a new layer to his already rich career.
