Lars Ulrich talked about his favourite songwriter of all time: Noel Gallagher.

Lars Ulrich, drummer of Metallica, has an eclectic taste in music. He has attended Glastonbury regularly since his band headlined in 2014.
That year, Ulrich was photographed backstage with Noel Gallagher, former leader of Oasis. However, his connection to the Britpop band dates back to their early days.
Ulrich admired Oasis so much that, during one of their first U.S. tours, he attended a small club show. That night, he even worked as their lighting technician.
Lars Ulrich: A Huge Fan of Noel Gallagher’ Songwriting
His admiration for Noel Gallagher runs deep. In an interview with Classic Rock, Lars Ulrich called Noel Gallagher the greatest songwriter of all time.
“The hardest thing in the world is writing a simple song,” said Ulrich. “The shorter and simpler, the harder it is. Those amazing Oasis songs – Wonderwall, Live Forever, Supersonic – sound incredible when Noel plays them alone with just his voice and guitar.”
Metallica Covering Oasis’ Don’t Look Back In Anger
Although the biggest Oasis fan in Metallica, Lars Ulrich didn’t join when the band covered Don’t Look Back In Anger in 2017. Instead, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo performed the song.
Metallica played it at Manchester Arena, just months after a terrorist attack. The Oasis hit had become a symbol of resilience for the city.
