Liam Gallagher and John Squire are palanning to go out on tour to promote their joint album.
Liam Gallagher stated that he and new collaborator John Squire are planning their first live shows.
Officially announced last month after months of teasing, Gallagher called their album “the best record since ‘Revolver’ by The Beatles.” Yesterday (January 5), they released their debut single “Just Another Rainbow,” marking the first glimpse of the former Oasis frontman and Stone Roses guitarist’s project.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Gallagher revealed that live show plans are coming together.
“We have a bassist, a drummer, and a keyboardist on hold if needed. We’ll try to play without keyboards to keep a raw sound,” he said.
“If necessary, we’ll use them. We’re going on tour, playing gigs, and seeing what happens. The goal is to inspire people and make them happy. Then, we’ll make another album.”
Discussing the album, Liam added: “There are 10 songs, eight recorded at John’s studio. The last two were recorded in Los Angeles, where I sang them for the first time. The album doesn’t have a title yet. It’s simply Liam Gallagher and John Squire.”
The project began when Squire joined Gallagher on stage at Knebworth in 2022 to play “Champagne Supernova.” Later, Squire sent three tracks to Gallagher. They recorded them at Squire’s studio in Macclesfield before working with producer Greg Kurstin in Los Angeles. Kurstin also played bass on the album, alongside drummer Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M., Atoms For Peace).
Reviewing the debut single, NME said: “The song itself isn’t shocking but remains intriguing. Just Another Rainbow isn’t pure fan-service, but the duo plays to their strengths. Liam’s vocals echo John Lennon’s Mind Games era, while Squire’s guitar skills shine in a song that suits him more than Gallagher. It’s a pleasure to hear Squire back on record.”
