Liam Gallagher said that “no one wants to be in a band” anymore claiming that music industry “It’s all ‘me me me’ solo stars”.
Liam Gallagher stated that “no one wants to be in a band anymore,” claiming that the music industry is full of “me me me” solo stars.
The former Oasis frontman made these remarks in an interview with John Squire about their new project. Last week, they launched the single “Just Another Rainbow”.
Later, Liam Gallagher confirmed they would release a 10-track album. He described the LP as “the best record since ‘Revolver’ by The Beatles“.
Speaking to “The Guardian”, the singer shared his views on current bands, saying “there are none worth mentioning”. Gallagher, who also led Beady Eye after Oasis split, added: “It’s a shame because they’d be getting it too”.
He continued: “No one wants to share success in a band anymore. It’s all about ‘me me me’ solo stars”.
Liam Gallagher wants to keep the Oasis catalog alive and announced the “Definitely Maybe” 30th-anniversary tour in the UK and Ireland.
“I won’t let Oasis become one of those bands that just rewraps an album in plastic every ten years,” he said.
Reflecting on the band’s 2009 breakup, Gallagher stated that his brother Noel Gallagher and manager Marcus Russell “threw me under the bus”. He recalled: “My life collapsed”.
Since 2017, Liam Gallagher has released three solo albums. He claimed Noel Gallagher always intended to go solo, as he played acoustic shows alone between Oasis tours.
“If you need attention, go ahead,” he said. “I’ll chill on a beach for six months. But don’t pull the plug on the band.”
Later, Liam Gallagher addressed the blame for Oasis’ breakup being placed on his drinking. “That was always my behavior, and Noel’s,” he explained. “That’s what made Oasis what they were.”
He continued: “I didn’t change, but suddenly Noel turned into Ronan Keating and said: ‘We can’t allow this behavior’.”
For Liam Gallagher, the five years after Oasis broke up were “a nightmare”. Meanwhile, Noel Gallagher “was still enjoying his success with a big office and a staff running around him”.
Last September, LG hinted his new solo album was finished. His latest release, “C’mon You Know”, came out in 2022 after “As You Were” (2017) and “Why Me? Why Not.” (2019).
This week, Liam Gallagher and John Squire are aiming for Number One on the UK singles chart. The result will be announced today, January 12.
Meanwhile, former Oasis guitarist Bonehead, now in Liam Gallagher‘s band, recently listened to LG and Squire’s record. “It’s very good,” he commented.
Liam Gallagher will perform “Definitely Maybe” in full when he headlines Reading & Leeds 2024 this August.
Last October, he claimed Noel Gallagher was invited to join the UK/Ireland tour but “refused”.
