Liam Gallagher took his Twitter to apologise to Oasis‘ fans for Noel’s cover of ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’.
Last week, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds performed “Love Will Tear Us Apart” during BBC Radio 2’s Piano Room session.
Backed by the BBC Concert Orchestra, Noel admitted he was hesitant to take on such a classic.
“It’s such an iconic song, and being from Manchester… well, this is going to be tricky,” Noel said.
He continued: “I did a little demo in my own studio and thought, ‘Maybe I can pull this off.’”
But Liam Gallagher didn’t agree.
“I must once again apologise on behalf of my family,” Liam wrote on Twitter. “His version was piss poor and damn right blasphemous.”
The jab follows a long line of public feuds between the brothers.
In 2020, Liam claimed an Oasis reunion was “gonna happen very soon.” Earlier this year, Noel said he would “never say never.”
But things turned sour again in March.
Noel told French media that Liam wants the reunion but hasn’t reached out. “He should call. He won’t,” Noel said.
Liam fired back on Twitter, claiming Noel had “done a lot of damage to Oasis” and owed fans an apology.
Noel later accused Liam of being a “coward” about reuniting, prompting another Twitter blast from Liam, calling his brother “full of shit” and someone who “hates Oasis fans.”
The tension doesn’t end with family.
Noel recently attacked The 1975’s Matty Healy, calling him a “fucking slack-jawed fuckwit” who should split up his band.
Noel’s BBC Radio 2 performance supported the release of his new album “Council Skies.”
The album received positive reviews, with NME calling it “the brightest, most listenable collection of songs he’s pieced together in some time.”
To promote Council Skies, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are touring North America with Garbage and will launch a UK arena tour this December.
