Liam Gallagher has dropped yet another hint at a potential Oasis reunion.
The tweet follows a reconciliatory New Year’s note to his brother Noel Gallagher.
Liam Gallagher has hinted again at a potential Oasis reunion.
Replying to a fan on Twitter who wrote, “HEY LIAM, give me hope that Oasis will come back,” Liam replied, “It’s gonna happen”.
Fans then begged for more details.
The tweet, sent on Saturday, February 13, follows a New Year’s message to his brother Noel, suggesting that 2021 was the right year for an Oasis reunion.
“HNY Noel, love you long time. 2021 is our year. C’mon, you know. LG x,” wrote Liam on January 1.
The two famously fronted the beloved Brit-rock band from 1991 to 2009 before their split.
Despite fans’ hopes and Liam’s willingness, an actual reunion seems unlikely, as Noel has not shown the same enthusiasm, at least publicly.
In March 2020, Liam said he would reunite the band “with or without” Noel for an NHS charity gig, adding he was “sick of pleading” for the reunion.
In February last year, Liam suggested that his brother had rejected a £100m reunion offer. Noel responded, “To whoever might be arsed: I am not aware of any offer to reform the legendary Oasis“.
Noel, the band’s main songwriter, told Big Issue that every tweet from his brother, whom he called a “moron,” is “a nail in the coffin” of any reunion hopes.
However, in January 2021, Noel described a 2002 song by Liam as “perfect,” a rare compliment.
On The Matt Morgan Podcast, the High Flying Birds singer said, “I thought ‘Songbird’ by Liam was great. We did a demo, and it sounded like ‘Love Me Do’ by The Beatles. Then we removed all the instruments, making it this perfect acoustic piece”.
