Matty Healy is pro an Oasis reunion and he’s actually sending a message to the Gallagher brothers.
Matty Healy has shared his opinion on the ongoing speculation about an Oasis reunion.
The outspoken frontman of The 1975 told the Gallagher brothers to “grow up” and reform the iconic band.
His comments came during an interview on Q with Tom Power, aired by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
Healy Says Oasis Should “Headline Glastonbury”
When asked what he’s most proud of in his band, Healy praised their ability to stay close as friends.
“We’ve mediated tensions by being open and silly,” he explained.
Healy then compared The 1975 to bands that, in his words, “get so serious” over simple disagreements.
“What are Oasis doing?” Healy asked. “They could still be the coolest band in the world. But they’re not, because they’re in a mard with each other.”
The Gallagher Brothers Need to “Grow Up”, Says Healy
Healy joked that he could accept Liam and Noel Gallagher “dressing like they’re in their 20s and being in their 50s.”
But he couldn’t accept them “acting like they’re in their 20s.”
“They need to grow up,” Healy added. “They’re men of the people, yet they’re sat around in Little Venice and Highgate crying over an argument.”
“Grow up! Headline Glastonbury! Have a good time! Have a laugh!”
Solo Careers No Match for Oasis, Healy Claims
The Chocolate singer also criticised their solo careers.
“There’s not one person going to a High Flying Birds gig or a Liam Gallagher gig that wouldn’t rather be at an Oasis gig,” Healy declared.
“Do me a favour: Get back together. Stop messing around. That’s my public service announcement for today.”
Oasis Reunion Rumours Continue
The latest Oasis reunion rumours began last month.
Liam Gallagher claimed Noel had been “on the phone begging for forgiveness.”
Before that, Noel said he would “never say never” to an Oasis reunion.
However, he also stated in October that there would be “no point,” as the band still sells as many records now as when they were active.
What’s Next for the Gallaghers and The 1975?
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will release their fourth studio album Council Skies in June.
Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher is still touring in support of his solo album C’mon You Know, released in 2022.
The 1975 continue their At Their Very Best world tour, with dates in South America and Australia this year.
