Noel Gallagher confirms ‘Definitely Maybe’ 30th anniversary reissue for 2024 with previously unheard tracks.
The reissue of Oasis’ debut album will be released in 2024, celebrating 30 years since its original launch. In recent months, numerous rumors have circulated about a possible reunion.
In a recent interview, former guitarist, singer, and songwriter Noel Gallagher shared details about the new edition and dismissed any tour speculation.
According to Noel Gallagher, the anniversary reissue will include previously unreleased tracks recorded during the original sessions.
Speaking with Corriere Della Sera, he revealed: “In Sony’s archives, we found tapes from those sessions.”
“We thought they were lost, but they were just mislabeled,” he added. “They contain wonderful versions of those songs, including acoustic versions.”
The re-release will feature acoustic versions of fan-favorites like “Live Forever”, “Slide Away”, and “Supersonic”. However, the musician confirmed there will be no live performances.
“There won’t be a tour,” he stated. “We won’t play them together again.”
During the interview, Noel Gallagher recalled playing “Live Forever” for Bonehead and realizing it was destined to be a hit.
“We were nobodies. I was in a Manchester flat on a Tuesday afternoon. I brought it to rehearsal, and Bonehead said, ‘You didn’t write that.’ I knew it would become a classic.”
Over the years, speculation about an Oasis reunion has been ongoing, with both Noel and Liam Gallagher making conflicting statements.
Three years ago, in an NME interview, Liam Gallagher claimed a reunion was coming “very soon.” In January, Noel Gallagher also mentioned he would never completely rule out the idea, stating he would “never say never” to a reunion.
Recently, though, hopes for a tour have faded. Liam Gallagher said his brother has “damaged the Oasis brand.” His comments followed an interview Noel gave to France Inter, in which he claimed Liam suggests he wants a reunion but never takes the first step.
Since Oasis’ split in 2009, Noel Gallagher has released three albums with High Flying Birds and is set to release another this year.
Scheduled for June 2 via Sour Mash, “Council Skies” will be the band’s fourth full-length album. Four tracks have already been released: “Easy Now”, “Dead To The World”, “Pretty Boy”, and “Council Skies”.
Noel Gallagher and his band will embark on a UK arena tour this summer, with dates in Hull, London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, and Glasgow. The final show will take place at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena on December 21.
The High Flying Birds will also headline the Sheffield Rock N Roll Circus 2023 on September 1 at Don Valley Bowl, joined by Happy Mondays, The Cribs, The Joy Formidable, and Somebody’s Child.
