Noel Gallagher has confirmed his return to the studio early next year to record a new solo album.
The former Oasis guitarist and singer released ‘Council Skies’ with High Flying Birds in June 2024. Now, he is already preparing the album’s follow-up.
Speaking to The Sun (via Music News), Noel Gallagher revealed:
“I’ve had to stop writing because I need to get these songs recorded and get them out there so I can write some more.”
“During the pandemic, there was nothing to do all day, so I just wrote songs. There’s another two albums-worth of material there.”
He added: “I think I’m going to be back in the studio in January, so we’ll see where it goes from there.”
New Single and Upcoming UK Tour
In November, Noel Gallagher shared the single ‘We’re Gonna Get There in the End’, taken from ‘Council Skies’. The official video is available to watch online.
Noel Gallagher and High Flying Birds will also embark on a UK arena tour this month. The tour includes a show at London’s OVO Arena Wembley. Remaining tickets are still available for purchase.
Oasis Reissues and Anniversaries
Meanwhile, Oasis recently celebrated the 25th anniversary reissue of their iconic compilation album ‘The Masterplan’. Originally released in 1998, the album features B-sides from:
- ‘Definitely Maybe’ (1994)
- ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ (1995)
- ‘Be Here Now’ (1997)
Noel Gallagher is also preparing a 30th anniversary reissue of ‘Definitely Maybe’. He announced the release details earlier this year.
Liam Gallagher’s ‘Definitely Maybe’ Tour
Liam Gallagher has big plans to celebrate ‘Definitely Maybe’’s anniversary. Next summer, Liam will tour the UK with a ‘Definitely Maybe’ live show.
He previously confirmed he will perform the album in full. He also teased “naughty” B-sides from that era. Importantly, Liam said he won’t perform solo material during these shows.
Future Oasis Reunion?
Earlier this year, Noel Gallagher spoke to NME’s In Conversation series. He was asked if Oasis had received offers for a Britpop reunion package tour.
Noel replied: “Inevitably, it will happen,” but added, “there’s never really been a serious offer about ‘The Big O’ getting back together.”
He also commented on Oasis‘ limited success in the US. According to Noel, America “couldn’t handle” the band’s attitude. “We didn’t give a fuck about anything,” he said.
