Noel Gallagher affirms he’s recording an acoustic album this year “for the fans”.
The former Oasis guitarist had previously hinted at a new album early in the year but had not shared details.
Speaking on Matt Morgan‘s podcast (via Music News), he said: “I’m back in the studio – not rock, just acoustic. I’m really doing it for the fans.”
“I had to remove all electronic equipment from the studio… I’ve tried three times to make an acoustic album, but every time I used electronics. Now, there are only acoustic instruments in the studio.”
Gallagher added that he has already completed six songs. He revealed: “There’s a song called ‘God Help Us All’, written in 2005 when I was still in Oasis, but never recorded.”
“There is a demo from an EP series. Then, there is a bootlegged track called ‘Just Let It Come Down Over Me’, which has a country vibe. I’ll record it, but the rest is all new material. I’m excited about the challenge… as long as the melody and lyrics are good, it’s good.”
On New Year’s Eve, Gallagher released an emotional new demo titled ‘In A Little While’, possibly hinting at the upcoming album’s sound.
In the chorus, he sings: “They say it’s over, well I don’t believe it/ They tell me it’s gone but that can’t be true/ And if it’s lost, well I’m gonna find it/ Turn me a page, let’s start anew.”

Gallagher has a tradition of releasing a new song to welcome the new year. This time, he wrote: “Thought you might wanna hear this little piece which – like last year’s offering – sounds quite appropriate for New Year’s Day.”
Discussing his plans to record new music, he said: “During the pandemic, there was nothing to do, so I just wrote songs. I have material for two more albums. I’ll be back in the studio in January, so we’ll see where it goes.”
Around the release of ‘Council Skies’, Gallagher spoke with NME about the inspiration behind the songs and his approach to writing the album.
“I was in that mindset of going into the studio with nothing and seeing what happened,” he said.
“David Holmes [producer] unlocked that door for me, and it was amazing. If I hadn’t been isolated for so long, maybe I would have continued working with David. We always talked about doing another album, but then lockdown happened, he moved on to other projects, and I started writing at home.”
