Noel Gallagher says he wants John Squire for new album

Noel Gallagher said he’d like to have former Stone Roses guitarist John Squire to play on his next album.

John Squire, Noel Gallagher

Noel Gallagher hopes to feature John Squire, the legendary guitarist of The Stone Roses, on his next album.

The former Oasis star is working on his fourth album with the High Flying Birds. He wants Squire to make a guest appearance, but the guitarist can be “a bit aloof.”

Speaking on the Matt Morgan podcast, Noel Gallagher said:

“He’s a great guitarist. I always threaten to get him on my records, but I never ask him. I will. He’s a bit aloof. He’s a great artist, so if he’s got any sense, he’ll be selling art.”

Gallagher revealed that Squire worked for an animation studio before joining The Stone Roses. He contributed to a children’s TV show, similar to Trumpton.

John Squire worked at Cosgrove-Hall, a Manchester animation studio famous for Danger Mouse. He helped create sets and props for The Wind In The Willows adaptation in the late 1980s.

Noel Gallagher Writes a Song Perfect for Quentin Tarantino

Meanwhile, Gallagher claims he has written a song ideal for a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack.

He said:

“I recently wrote a song that sounds f*****g great. It’s like a spaghetti western, perfect for a Quentin Tarantino film. The verses are low, and the chorus is really high.”

Gallagher added:

“I’m doing this album on my own. I feel it will be very guitar-heavy. The songs will be pop but with an edge.”

His last full-length album was Who Built The Moon?, released in 2017.
