In a new episode of podcast This Must Be The Gig, Liam Gallagher has recounted the experience of meeting Beatles drummer Ringo Starr.
“The person I couldn’t handle meeting one day, I had to leave the room with, was Ringo Starr,” the former Oasis frontman shared.
“Paul McCartney I was alright with,” he continued, “but Ringo Starr I actually got off.
When asked why that was Liam wasn’t so sure.
“I don’t know, Ringo just freaked me out,” he replied. “[I was] like, ‘F*cking Ringo man!’ His voice and everything, it was just like, I thought I was tripping… Even his name, ‘Ringo’ was just f*cking mindblowing.”
While it’s unclear how often Liam has crossed paths with Ringo he’s met McCartney several times. It’s John Lennon though who is his favourite Beatle.
“John Lennon means everything to me,” Gallagher told the NME in one 2012 interview. “I wouldn’t say he’s a better songwriter than McCartney, I’d say they’re both different but great. But I like Lennon’s stuff more because it’s a bit more beautiful, and it’s more mad.”
